I’m Jeff Davis

I am working as a Creative Director specializing in UX / UI / VUI Design at Branded UX from my home studio, based in Lake Tahoe, Ca.

Branding, Strategy & Design...

Intuition has always been a dominant force in my life. Combining it with an understanding of natural behavior and cognitive science-based strategies, I help startups and established companies alike design better branded user experiences with harmonic solutions that resonate with users and target business objectives.

Outside of full-time commitments at Branded UX, I work on select freelance projects and a few pet projects of my own.

MBTI: INTP - INTJ - Rationalists - Creative, insightful problem solvers and idea generators.

My MBTI revealed INTP, near the INTJ border. Considered logical rationalists & intuitive thinkers, they're' two of the rarest personality types. Combined, they make up less than 4% of the population.

Background

Why Design?

I'm an artist and designer with an analytical mindset. It's in my nature. Even as a child, I had a passion for organization and simplifying complexity. I was creating flow-charts, architecture diagrams, and mechanical drawings before I even knew what "Graphic Design" or "Information Architecure" was.

"UX" wasn't even a thing.

The curiosity of my own passion for aesthetics and organization snowballed into a larger scope of behavioral pattern research after my graphic design professor gave my class the Meyers Briggs assessment. Everyone in my like-minded class was revealed to be of only a few personality types... INTP being one of them.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Art at The University of Tennessee. Design wasn't my only interest though. I actually graduated with nearly 100 extra credits, mostly in anthropology and astronomy which I'd also consider design curriculums of sorts.

My continued education has focussed on computer science fundamentals, design thinking and artificial intelligence through courses offered by Harvard, MIT and Columbia University.

I'm as much a product of my environment as I am a genetic stereotype. I grew up running around in loud mainframe rooms and drawing ASCII art on my father's computer at his office.

When I was about 9 years old, he bought me a Tandy TRS 80 pocket computer for Christmas. You couldn't do much on it, but that was my introduction to programming.
